About the book:

As in the years past, Sisi retreats to Biarritz for the winter of 1897, seeking solace from the rigid Spanish Court Ceremonial of the Viennese Hofburg Palace. One foggy day, while strolling along the beach, she comes across an enigmatic old man in a wheelchair, his presence as fleeting as a wisp of fog.

Unbeknownst to others, Sisi and the old man share a secret - a memory of a chance encounter that has stayed with them over the years. Sisi is convinced she has glimpsed the man from her past, and he, too, is certain he has seen the woman who captivated him long ago. Yet, they both choose to keep their distance, cherishing the purity of their memories from the days they first met in Bad Kissingen.

James Colburn, a young Englishman, finds himself captivated by a woman of mystery, her identity a puzzle he can't solve. Their encounter becomes a defining moment in his life, a memory that never fades. And she, too, holds onto the memory of him, a flicker of a flame in her heart.

Meanwhile, in a different part of Europe, a young Italian named Luigi Lucheni embarks on a journey. His destination: Switzerland. By day, he toils at a construction site, blending into the crowd of laborers. But at night, he sheds his mundane facade, mingling with his fellow anarchists in the dimly lit corners of cheap public houses, his true nature hidden from the world.

When the opportunity presents itself, he plans to assassinate Prince Henri Philippe of Orléans in Geneva. However, he loses track of the Prince’s movements. Then he reads in the newspaper that Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary is also in Geneva. Since he considers all members of royal families to be odious parasites, he changes his devious plan.

15th century Asia. In the midst of Genghis Khan's former empire, torn apart by two centuries of civil war, a young Mandukhai dares to dream of becoming a fierce female warrior. Her aspirations are abruptly halted when she is compelled to become the second wife of Manduul Khan, a man of ruthless power. Yet, even in the face of such a daunting fate, her spirit remains unbroken.

The great Mongolian warrior, Unebolod, spends his life in Manduul Khan’s shadow, preparing for the day when he can seize the throne, even though he’s not a direct descendant of Genghis Khan but rather of his younger brother, Qasar. His lineage, though not direct, holds significant weight in the Mongolian hierarchy. But when he forms a dangerous alliance with Mandukhai Khatun, it swiftly transforms into a lingering passion that could destroy them both. But just as the two young people are sure that fate will bring them together and make Unebolod the next Khan, a young prince emerges from the shadows, captures the Khan’s attention, and attempts to steal the people’s hearts.

As Manduul Khan's health deteriorates, Mandukhai Khatun faces her most daunting challenge yet: Establishing her place in a male-dominated political hierarchy. With the Mongolian warlords preparing for another round of conflict, secrets are unearthed and dangers lurk at every turn. The suspense builds as the treacherous games of influence and power unfold at the Mongolian court and the Forbidden City. Who will emerge victorious? Will the royal bloodline of Genghis Khan survive? And who will be left to recount the tale when the dust finally settles?

About the book:

Sisi's health is declining. Her anorexia nervosa has done permanent damage to her body. The Empress seeks help from the most prominent specialists of the time. And Sisi finally realizes she wants to spend the little time she has left on this Earth with her husband. However, he has, over the years, developed his own life. So, when the Empress finally decides to settle down at the Hermesvilla, she quickly discovers that she's no longer needed.

Meanwhile, a massive scandal is about to rattle the foundation of the Habsburg monarchy. Emperor Franz Joseph and his intimate friend, the actress Kathi Schratt, are rumored to be adulterers. Both parties assure a much-agitated Empress that they are indeed the victims of a horrible rumor. However, Sisi cannot just stand idly by and let things take their course. But would she go so far as to get the famous actress fired from the Burgtheater and drive a wedge between the two long-time friends?

And if that wasn't enough, the imperial couple is being blackmailed by none other than Sisi's niece, Marie Larisch. She threatens to divulge the secrets of the House of Habsburg, especially the ones regarding the death of her cousin Crown Prince Rudolph unless she is paid handsomely. But what exactly has the imperial family to hide? Moreover, one payment is not enough for the former Countess. Repeatedly, she asks for more money. When, and more importantly, how will this situation be resolved? And who can be trusted to end Marie Larisch's blackmail scheme?

All the while, the heir to the throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, is still faced with a difficult choice: Letting go of the love of his life, Countess Sophie Chotek, and instead fulfilling his duty to the dynasty by marrying a stranger. He turns to Aunt Sisi for help in this crisis of the heart. She understands her nephew and wants to help him. However, she also loves her husband, with whom she has shared so much happiness and countless heartbreaks. But then, as if by accident, the Emperor meets the young woman, who has utterly captured the heir's heart.

Sisi doesn't know about the young man in the office of a Royal Italian Army installation as he receives his discharge papers. His name is Luigi Lucheni. He is 24 years old and has just finished three years in the military. For the longest time, the young man, who looks like a muscular, dark-haired farmer, had been the regiment commander, the Prince of Aragon's batman. But even though the two men couldn't have been any different by degree of education or origin, they somehow had become accustomed to each other, and the Prince doesn't want to lose the intelligent young lad.

After all, she is the granddaughter of the infamous Duke Guillaume IX, called the Troubadour.

Young Aliénor of Aquitaine baffles and bewilders friends and foes alike when she marries the future King of the Franks, Louis VII, in 1137. She’s called daring, ambitious, and overtly romantic. Yet, through it all, she remains worthy of every troubadour’s adoration.

As the Duchess leaves France behind to become the Queen of England, Aliénor faces a whole new slew of enemies. However, she remains a mystery to the men of her time, whether she joins a crusade to the Holy Land or fights her second husband, King Henry II of England, who imprisons her to force her into submission with all her might. And if her enemies dare to join forces? They quickly learn how much power lurks within even a caged lioness!

Break out the Champagne: It's Time for another Book Release Celebration!

Thank you for joining me for the second time this year, to help celebrate the release of another book of #TheCountryGirlEmpressSeries! LOVE, POWER, AND THE EMPEROR WALTZ - A Country Girl Empress Novel, book six of the series, has finally arrived and has hit the virtual bookshelves! I still can't quite believe it myself...this is so exciting. Set in 19th century Vienna, the book is centered around real historical figures such as Empress Elisabeth of Austria, her husband Emperor Franz Joseph I, and their children. Come join, as their story unfolds further! Naturally, I fictionalized the story and filled it with page-turning adventures, some danger, and a hint of romance.

If you enjoyed the first five parts of this award-winning series, THE COUNTRY GIRL EMPRESSA LIFE IN THE SHADOW OF THE CROWNTHE PERPETUAL TRAVELER, EXCERPTS FROM THE IMPERIAL DIARY, and AT THE CASTLE OF DREAMS , then I have no doubt that you will love this installment. But, no matter if this sort of book is your cup of tea or not, there might be someone in your life who does enjoy historical fiction, and I love to encourage my readers to give books as gifts, as they make great presents for any occasion.

To all my readers who have been following my writing journey: Thank you for all your support, encouragement, and enthusiasm! You make all the hard work worthwhile, and I could not have done it without you. If I have not "met" you yet, make sure you head over to one of my social media outlets on FacebookLinkedIn, Medium or Goodreads, and introduce yourself.

About the book:

Over and over, Empress Elisabeth of Austria seeks to escape the magnificent but spiteful Viennese court. She travels to foreign lands accompanied by her old, faithful Grand Chamberlain, Baron Nopsca, and her ladies-in-waiting. But as soon as she returns home, she is confronted with the upcoming visit of Grand Duke Nikolaj Aleksandrovič Romanov of Russia. To smooth things over between the two Empires, Franz Joseph plans to host a reception, banquet, and one of Vienna’s famous balls at Schönbrunn Palace. To give the festivities an air of a familial get-together, he expects Sisi to attend, even though she’s still in mourning.

The rest of her extended family doesn’t make it any easier for the overwhelmed Empress. Sisi finds out that the future heir presumptive, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, has fallen head over heels in love with a simple Bohemian noblewoman. Unfortunately for him, Sophie Maria Josephine Albina Countess Chotek von Chotkow and Wognin is far below his own societal rank.

The connubium of the House of Habsburg and the traditional-thinking Emperor Franz Joseph seem to make the young people’s relationship impossible. To be eligible to marry a member of the imperial House of Habsburg, one has to be a member of one of the reigning or formerly reigning dynasties of Europe. The Choteks are not one of these families. Deeply in love, Franz Ferdinand refuses to consider marrying anyone else that includes the Emperor’s suggestion he marry Crown Princess Dowager Stéphanie.

The Emperor decides to send his potential heir to the throne on a world tour. He hopes that he will finally forget about the “unworthy” bride that his nephew has chosen. One whole year must the young Archduke spend away from home. No contact is allowed between the two lovers. In desperation, Archduke Franz Ferdinand turns to the only person whom he trusts – his aunt, Empress Sisi. She understands her nephew and wants to help him. However, she also loves her husband, with whom she has shared so much happiness and countless misfortunes.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Crown Princess Dowager Stéphanie and Princess Elisabeth of Bavaria, Archduchess Gisela’s oldest daughter, don’t make life any easier for the Emperor. Steffi’s fallen in love with her Grand Chamberlain, Count Elemér Lónyay, and Sisi’s granddaughter, Princess Elisabeth, eloped with Otto Baron zu Hagenbach. These relationships are no less undesirable than the one Franz Ferdinand pursues.

For her part, the Empress cannot bear the strains and constraints of life at the imperial court and embarks on an odyssey crisscrossing the Mediterranean Sea. From Algiers to Gibraltar to Spain, Portugal, Corfu – everywhere she goes, she is haunted by the past, unable to find inner peace. But with her incessant travel mania, she not only hurts her husband deeply but gives the oppositional forces plenty of reason to speculate that she’s become unhinged. An insane woman is wearing the Austrian crown – that is gossip the House of Habsburg can’t afford or tolerate!

But, no matter if this sort of book is your cup of tea or not, there might be someone in your life who does enjoy historical fiction, and I love to encourage my readers to give books as gifts, as they make great presents for any occasion.

About the book:

The sudden and violent death of Sisi’s only son, Crown Prince Rudolph at his hunting lodge Mayerling, shakes the Monarchy to its core. And the fact that the dead body of his teenaged mistress is found right next to his completes the scandal. How will the imperial couple cope with this devastating loss? Does this tragedy mark the end of the Danube monarchy, since Rudolph only has a daughter? And will their love and faith in each other allow Sisi and Franz Joseph to master these difficult trials?

And the search for the Heir Presumptive is on. For the moment, the Emperor’s younger brother, Archduke Karl Ludwig, fills that role, but one must plan for the future. So, who would fill the role better: Archduke Otto, nicknamed “the Clown”, or Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who is always plagued by one ailment or another?

Churned up and filled with doubts concerning the official version of the Mayerling incident, Empress Sisi attempts to uncover the truth about her son’s untimely death. But no matter where she searches, she faces a wall of silence. To escape the vicious rumors and regain her inner peace, the Country Girl Empress turned Perpetual Traveler journeys to Greece. On the 16th of October 1889, Crown Prince Rudolph’s best friend and uncle, Archduke Johann Salvator resigns his army commission and renounces his title and the privileges he enjoys as a member of the Austrian imperial family. Afterward, he assumes the name Johann Orth and marries Ludmilla "Milli" Stubel, an opera dancer, in London. Shortly after their wedding, he purchases the ship “St. Margaritha”, and he and his wife set sail for South America.

In February of the following year, the former Archduke’s ship sets off from Montevideo, Uruguay, heading for Valparaíso in Chile. They were last seen on the 12th of July in Cape Tres Puntas, Argentina. Everyone believes that the St. Margaritha was lost during a storm off the coast of Cape Horn. Have Johann Orth and his wife become the newest victims of the forces that already eliminated the Crown Prince? Was their demise just an unhappy coincidence, or did they indeed escape their pursuers by changing their names, fleeing deeper into the jungles of South America?

After her son's violent death, Sisi commissions the construction of a palace on the island of Corfu called the “Achilleion”, after Homer's hero Achilles in “The Iliad”. Located about ten kilometers south of the city of Corfu, it provides a panoramic view of the town to the north, and across the whole southern part of the island to the Ionian Sea, and becomes Sisi’s favorite holiday destination. She wants to create a place that gratifies her admiration for Greece, its language, and culture. But she realizes all too soon that her “Castle of Dreams” is nothing but a shackle and even considers selling it. How much more loss and misery can the unsteady spirit of the Empress endure?

About the book:

Empress Sisi is still youthful, gorgeous, and desired by many. She is loved and honored by her husband, Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary, but all too soon they are hit by tragedies they are powerless to prevent.

Although the King pays for his pet projects with his own funds, it does not spare Bavaria from financial ruin. Feeling harassed and irritated by his ministers, King Ludwig considers dismissing the entire cabinet and replacing them with fresh faces. However, the cabinet members agree to act first. Seeking a cause to depose their King by constitutional means, the rebelling Bavarian ministers decide on the rationale that he is mentally unfit and therefore unable to rule.

They ask Ludwig's uncle, Prince Luitpold, to step into the royal vacancy once the monarch is removed. Luitpold agrees, on the condition that the conspirators produce solid proof that the King is indeed insane. Then King Ludwig II loses his life under mysterious circumstances. Was it suicide or is someone strategically eliminating members of the House of Wittelsbach?

Meanwhile, at court, many people, including the imperial couple and Crown Princess Stéphanie, know that Rudi has plenty of extra-marital affairs. His newest conquest is 17-year-old Baroness Mary Vetsera, daughter of Baron Albin Vetsera and his wife, Helene Baltazzi. Rudolph’s marriage to Steffi is not a particularly happy one and results in the birth of their only daughter, Archduchess Elisabeth, affectionally referred to as “Erzsi”.

The sudden, and violent death of Sisi’s only son, Crown Prince Rudolph at his hunting lodge Mayerling, shakes the Monarchy to its core. And the fact that the dead body of his teenaged mistress is found right next to his completes the scandal. How will the imperial couple cope with this devastating loss? Does this tragedy mark the end of the Danube monarchy, since Rudolph only had a daughter? And will their love and faith in each other allow Sisi and Franz Joseph to master these difficult trials?

About the book:

The great monarchies of Europe begin to crumble. From within, they face rebellions and revolutions, while outside forces cause further instability. But somehow the Austro-Hungarian Empire is spared thanks to one woman – Sisi! To escape the constant pressures of stringent court life, Sisi turns into a perpetual traveler and is seldom seen in the capital city. The Emperor, despite his deep love for Sisi, is still unable to break the chains of the strict court protocol, even though it continuously puts their relationship to the test.

Just like the late Archduchess Sophie before her, Sisi begins to arrange suitable marriages for her older children to further the Empire's interests and ensure its continuance. The first to fall victim to her schemes is Archduchess Gisela. Then, Crown Prince Rudolph travels with his mother to Belgium to meet fifteen-year-old Princess Stephanie. But will this potential child-bride enflame the Crown Prince's heart, and more importantly, will Stephanie gain the Emperor's approval?

And things are also not what they ought to be in Sisi's beloved Bavaria. After repeatedly postponing his wedding with Sisi's younger sister Sophie, King Ludwig finally cancels their nuptials altogether. Rumor has it that his bride has fallen in love with the court photographer. But what is really going on in Munich, and what's the matter with Ludwig?

In mid-19th century Vienna, palace staterooms and bedrooms are not only filled with splendor but also with enticements, opponents and merciless conspiracies. Sisi now faces a new set of challenges. Can the beautiful Country Girl Empress weather these storms, or will she become the latest sacrificial lamb on the altar of the all-powerful Danube Monarchy?
