Book Review of Fractured Horizons: A Time Travel Odyssey

In this week's post I'm changing things up a bit. I recently had the pleasure of reading the book Fractured Horizons: A Time Travel Odyssey by talented author Mark E. Thomas, who pens his work using the pseudonym T.E. Mark. While I do not review nearly enough books as I would like to, I felt compelled by the premise of the story.

Fractured Horizons: A Time Travel Odyssey by T.E. Mark is a brilliant time travel novel in which the main character, Robert Davie, a teenaged boy from England, jumps through time and space. His guide on this journey, a strange girl whose name changes through the ages, continuously tells him that all this is part of his training…but to what end? Who is she and can she really warp time and space? And who are her mysterious superiors?

Living other people’s lives, Robert meets some of the greatest scientific minds and visits alternate timelines. His first stop is ancient Egypt. While in 16th century Italy he attends a lecture by Galileo Galilei and befriends Sir Isaac Newton during his visit to 17th century England, and more. This boy from England, who always wanted to become a scientist in order to change the world, learns the potential harm science can cause when the human race is not ready for it, and he catches a glimpse of three possible futures.

The story is entertaining and fun, with an underlying profound message and a twist at the end. Fractured Horizons: A Time Travel Odyssey is an intriguing study of possibilities and how billions of lives could be altered by interfering with a single moment in history. The characters are brilliantly developed, and the plot moves along at a quick pace while leaving the reader begging for the plot to become more involved. This novel asks, “If it were possible, should one alter the past?”. A good question indeed. So although at first the story reminded me a bit of Quantum Leap, T.E. Mark definitely made it his own. This Science Fiction/Fantasy piece with a hint of romance is an intriguing read that will make the reader think.

  1. Wow! A.Piper... I'm speechless. Thank you for the fine review, and I'm truly pleased you enjoyed the book. One other person who read it mentioned the film Quantum Leap. I believe I'll have to find a copy and view it - Just to make certain they didn't warp ahead in time and copy my idea. Thanks again. T.E.Mark

  3. I am going to read my first science fiction book only because if Piper wrote it, it's got to be good.
