Writers...What's New With You?

I'm keeping this week's post short and sweet, as it is a crazy busy month for me. But I am curious to hear from my fellow writers out there, what you've been up to lately. Are you actively engaged in writing a new book, novel, short story, etc.? Sorting out your marketing plan? Researching material for a new story? Tell us all about it in the comment section!

As for me, I’m in the midst of editing my first political romance novel, set in 19th century Austria, while researching my next historical fiction mystery.

Piper is the author of several non-fiction books, and recently added her debut historical fiction novel In the Shadow of Her Majesty to her ever-expanding collection of published writings. When she isn't busy typing away on her computer, she can be found chasing after her furry children or holding on tightly to a good cup of coffee. Follow her on LinkedInFacebookGoodreads and Google+.

  1. I am writing a family saga/romance and a romance/mystery at the same time. One is in the second draft stage and the other still in the rough. At the same time I am bogged down with social media and trying to prioritize my time better. So many good ideas out there but it all muddles in brain overload.

  2. I recently finished a book. A complete rewrite of a novel I had published years ago though never liked. It was overly pedantic, (I essentially included every big word I knew at the time) wordy trash with with a nifty plot. Hopefully the rewrite (Which was a complete re-do - I just used the characters and the plot but rewrote the entire novel) will be beter-received. I have one other that is part way there and another (a cool adventure fantasy) I just started doing research for. It's set in ancient Persia, so I need to brush up on my historical knowledge of the constant friction and warring between the Persians and the Macedonians.
I'm also researching how Persian writers write. What conventions are acceptable. How to approach the man and woman thing which is very different than in the west, And, religion. This will be a difficult one as I'd like it to be well-received in the west and in the east. And I don't want to end up living in exile under an assumed name for pissing someone off.
    Take care, A. Piper

    1. Wow...what an undertaking! Re-writing an entire novel is quite the task.
Hope you enjoyed the research! These ancient cultures are fascinating.
Any idea when these books will be published? Thank you for sharing, TE Mark! =)
